Why is red paint so expensive?

In the Misadventures Tron reveals she had planned to paint all the caps of the Servbots red, but couldn't afford it.

They spent a million Zenny on a huge airship...

How could she NOT afford it? Is red paint really that expensive?

I don't really know how to answer this. At least she painter her favorite Servbot's cap red.

It probably is. Remember the curator in Legends 1? If she wouldn't buy any more red paint after she ran out, it mustve been because the price was too high.

Must be because they generally have difficulty cultivating whatever plant produces red dye—actually, just cultivating anything would be a problem with such lack of land, lol.

That paint shop the developers couldn't put in due to deadlines and rendering issues, lol. It was back in the day, the era of wrestling with your own hardware.

What if they made their own paint? It would be a why it's so expensive: It's lacking on Terra and people tend to overprice it.
